"BeeHugged" borns within the workshop "Rights Through Making 3" at Eindhoven University of Technology. The starting point for this design team was the 25th article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The team so was called to emphasize empathy, security, and well-being extended to everyone: without age, race, economic or health discriminations. All in a unique artifact. Thus, together with our chinese, dutch and italian colleagues we designed a battery powered jacket (connectable with mobiles, MP3 players, etc.) that would even allow energy sharing with other jackets of the same type. So people wearing "Beehugged", in case of a device with no more battery, would have been able to charge it with a simple handshaking or a hug. A very warm gesture, standing for a very intense social message, although it is expressed through the satisfaction of a strictly functional need.
